UPDATES
In preparation for the main development works, we have agreed with Camden’s highways team that a temporary structural concrete slab will be installed over the top of the existing carriageway (the area of the road intended for vehicles, not pedestrians). This concrete will provide additional protection to the carriageway finishes and will distribute the anticipated vehicle loadings uniformly over the road surface to help mitigate damage during the construction operations. This new section of concrete will sit between numbers 9 and 10 Kendall’s Hall, and numbers 10, 12 and 14 New End. Camden is coordinating these works as they have has asked that these works be implemented by one of its own highway contractors.
To facilitate their works the highways team will be closing the lower section of New End to through traffic. Vehicles needing access to Upper Hampstead Walk, Duke of Hamilton Pub, 1, 2, 7, 8, 12a, 15a, 15b and 16 Kendall’s Hall, and properties West of The Duke of Hamilton Pub, will be allowed access into New End from Heath Street. For the duration of the road closure access heading West back into Heath Street will be granted. The turning into Heath Street will be temporarily managed with traffic marshals stationed at this junction.
Vehicles requiring access to the properties below 16 Kendall’s Hall, Carnegie House, 18 to 59 New End, New End Square, and Well Road will be required to use the diversion route of East Heath Road and Well Road.
In order to minimise confusion to drivers and to ensure the safety of pedestrians and school children we are making arrangements for road management and traffic marshals to be on the Heath Street junction with New End and Well Road on the dates advised by Camden Council. Marshalls will provide both instructions and local road maps to describe alternative access routes. Diversion signage will also be located at the relevant road junctions to direct traffic accordingly. During these works we trust that you will follow the instructions given by the marshals and trust that we shall do our best to work alongside Camden Council to keep the disruption to a minimum. The road closure will be removed as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
Christchurch Passage will be closed from Thursday 8 September, for a period of approximately 7 weeks. This is due to the need to remove the remnants of the existing site boundary wall between 29 New End and Christchurch Passage. The passage will be closed from the entrance on new End to the southern gable of Christchurch Passage for the duration of these works. Access to the open section of the passage, Christchurch Primary School, Christ Church and Christ Church Cottage will be from Christchurch Hill.
